FALKIRK’S GREEN DOG WALKERS WIN RECOGNITION AWARD IN KENNEL CLUB AWARDS

26/02/2010

Falkirk Council’s Green Dog Walkers have today been recognised for their responsible dog owners initiative, set upto encourage dog owners to be conscientious when walking their dogs in the area, by being awarded the KC Dog Recognition Award.

Local campaigners, MPs and representatives of local authorities came from across the UK for the fourth annual KC Dog Awards ceremony in recognition of their dog related good deeds in 2009.

At a time when councils nationwide are introducing dog control orders, the Kennel Club’s KC Dog Awards recognises all responsible dog owners, campaigners and general good citizens who show that if authorities and responsible dog owners work together, sensible local laws can be introduced.

Falkirk Council’s Green Dog Walkers have been selected for the ‘KC Dog Recognition’ award following their hard work in creating a non-confrontational volunteer network of over 400 people to promote cleaning up after your dog and responsible dog ownership. The Kennel Club commended them for their work in encouraging nine other community group partners to manage their own schemes within their neighbourhoods.

Kennel Club Chairman, Ronnie Irving, said: “Each of today’s winners has gone above and beyond the call of duty to campaign for a fair deal for dog owners and promote responsible dog ownership in their local community. We thank them for helping us make a positive difference for dogs and their owners.”
